Hi everyone!

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and welcome back to semester 2! By now, everyone will be more familiar with college life and with Galway, but always remember that it’s still ok to have questions, and there is plenty of supports and help available if you need them! Here’s a quick reminder of what’s available

  1. Student Connect Mentoring

Like last semester, your mentor will be on hand to support you with any queries you have, and to be a friendly face among the crowd! Never hesitate to contact them via WhatsApp and remember – there’s no such thing as a silly question!

Also, there are some great events lined up for this semester, including the first ever Student Connect Ball! So polish the shoes and get the ball gowns out! Find our event here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1829457200634674/

2. Counselling

If you’re finding that sometimes the college life can be daunting or stressful, if things are getting you down or even if you fancy a chat, the counselling service in NUI Galway is available for you to use. Dedicated listeners are there to deal with any challenges you’re facing and are always willing to help. So make mental health a priority and never hesitate to contact them if you need someone to talk to.

  1. Student Health Unit

The Student Health Unit, located on the first floor in Aras na MacLeinn provides health care to all registered students of the university.

  1. Career Guidance

This semester may require some students to start thinking about subject choices for next semester. If you have any questions about your options, or want advice on career information, the career development centre provides a wide range of support services, so pay them a visit!

  1. Smart Study, Smart Life

There are a series of free workshops happening this semester, including Time Management, Study Skills, Transition to Employment. If interested, please find more details at http://www.nuigstudents.ie/

Best of luck with semester 2 guys, and stay tuned for upcoming details about the ball!
