Becoming a Student Connect Mentor

 

There would be no Student Connect Mentor Programme if it were not for fantastic students stepping up to the mark and taking on the role. The programme is run through a tiered system. It begins with Una and the team who represent the connection to the academic staff. Una coordinates with the two Programme Coordinators, who in turn work with the six Mentor Leaders. The Mentor Leaders each have a group of Mentors that they work with and of course, the Mentors are the direct link to the First Year Students.

Exams! Assignments! Projects! Oh no!

Christmas is just around the corner, which means exams are even closer, and it is most definitely not the most wonderful time of the year. It can be very easy to let things run by the way side during exam season. Here are some tips from mentors on how to keep yourself in check for the coming weeks!

 

Make a timetable and study plan…. and stick to it! 

Fail to prepare, prepare to fail! Planning is usually always a first port of call, but don’t just make a schedule  and toss it aside.

Mental Health is something that affects everyone of us. Just like we look after our bodies, so too must we be kind to our minds. Stress is a big part of any college student's life and if not managed properly with the right support, it's easy to let it get out of hand. College can be overwhelming sometimes, with assignment deadlines and exams and the like. Throughout your college career and indeed the rest of your life, you will experience ups and downs, highs and lows, good times and bad.
